Governor: Gembrong Market Area will Be Revitalized Like in UK

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan conducted a groundbreaking for the revitalization of the Gembrong Market area, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, on Friday (7/1).

The Governor hoped that it could bring a new face and give a new name to housing that brings comfort to locals.

Kampung Gembrong will be named Kampung Gembira Gembrong with 136 units on 1,200-square-meter-wide land," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.
He hoped that all elements of society could help oversee the development process. He then appreciated the involvement of the Jakarta Baznas Bazis and the East Jakarta administration in the revitalization process that was about to begin and will be complete in September 2022.
"My hope is the concept built here is the concept of facing the river, the river should not be turned behind but must be in the front yard. So, this village can be a pilot for other villages. In England, it's called a waterfront, it looks like it faces the water, the water is river water," he explained.
He asserted that the project execution had to be on schedule, with the right quality, and with the right budget, which aims to create a sense of comfort, tranquility, and all residents who live in Jakarta will feel equal.
"Do it with a heart like you are building your own house. They (residents) deserve to have quality housing," he concluded.
As for the information, the total budget of Rp 7.8 billion is the collective result collected by the Jakarta Baznas Bazis, especially during the collection of infaq and sadaqah amid the Eid prayer at JIS in early May.
